Last weekend we went with a friend to the natural art park in the center of the island. There were a lot of stone sculptures. Some were really cool and others just looked like someone picked up a rock and set it on a tray. Thus is art, I suppose. There were also some cool plants. Like most of our adventures, pictures work better than words.
Some of the rock sculptures were meant to look like people. No idea who this dude is, but the rock is a spitting image! |

Yesterday it was rainy in the morning and cleared up in the afternoon, and we decided that it would be a great day to try to catch a sunset. We took one of the main bus lines as far as it went and then hiked out to the end of a skinny, mountainous peninsula. There were hardly any other people out there, and we were both happy to have the place to ourselves and sad that the other 7+ billion people in the world weren't smart enough to be in such an amazing place. There were great rocky cliffs and scrambles overlooking the ocean, and at the tip of the peninsula was a lighthouse which provided great views both toward the main part of Geoje and Busan on the mainland of Korea. The sunset was beautiful and we were able to watch it disappear behind the mountains of our island.
Today we went on a different type of adventure. It started out as our daily run but turned into a whole lot more. We had seen signs for a mountain while running earlier this month and decided to check it out. We knew it was kind of far, and pretty high (over 500m), but went for it. It was hard but definitely worth it. We ended up traipsing around the forested mountains for over 3 hours and were very tired when we got back, but we both really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we didn't bring our phones with, so no pictures from there. We'll have to go back sometime with cameras.
Anyway, we hope everyone back home had a good Easter and that spring heads toward the US too!
Always look forward to your pictures and hearing about your adventures! Aunt Maxine
